Marie Brennan - Lady Trent Series

I was looking for a paperback to take on holiday with me, something fantasy based but by an author I'd never read before and browsing in Waterstones I found this...

A Natural History of Dragons - A Memoir by Lady Trent, author Marie Brennan.

The book is the first in a series of 3 and is written as an autobiography telling the story of a young middle class girl/lady born and brought up in the land of Scirland. Compared to the Roundworld, It's set in Victorian times, where young ladies didn't get involved in science, however from a young age, this young lady has a fascination for dragons (possibly related to Lady Sybil?), the book tells of her early adventures as a child and a young adult and is gripping from start to finish. It is beautifully written and in my opinion a rare gem. I finished it within 4 days of starting it and on my return have ordered the other 2 titles in the series.

Highly recommended.
