I'm sure the Onion Fairy will make a visit to our house when this is broadcast...

When I first read the announcement I thought it referred to Peter Kay!

I love the names of Paul Kayes kids: Geffen Strummer Kaye and Jordan Katz Kaye

A very brief pre-view (20 seconds) can be found here http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/mediapacks/arts2017?platform=hootsuite - skip to 1.35

I wasn't sure what to think when I first read that it would be the weird bloke from Game of Thrones playing Sir Terry, but from this tiny extract, Paul Kaye does seem to do a very good job. Looking forward to seeing it, with several hankies at the ready for a visit from the Onion Fairy

Or for those of a slightly longer memory, Dennis Pennis does Pratchett...

Update from the Emporium on FB:

Terry Pratchett: Back in Black, the fourth instalment in the Terry Pratchett documentary trilogy will air in two weeks' time on BBC Two Saturday, February 11. Featuring contributions from authors Neil Gaiman and Val McDermid, and from collaborators such as Stephen Briggs and our very own Bernard Pearson (with an appearance from the Emporium itself) you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cry some more, cry AND laugh, and want to re-read Discworld all over again. Again.

A rather touching article in The Guardian today on Sir Terry and the forthcoming Back In Black documentary:

Saw a trailer for it yesterday.

Still very dubious about Paul Kaye - he has the look down close enough, but the voice (at least on the trailer) was totally wrong. It was more Harry Enfield's Mr You-Don't-Wanna-Do-It-Like-That ("Only Me!") than pTerry.

I hope it doesn't ruin it.

I don't think it does. It's certainly not perfect, but most people are not familiar enough with Terry's voice to notice the difference - and that includes most fans.

It's the actor playing Rob Wilkins that gets me - he's nothing like him.
My next project is a book in which I explore the influence of the music of Beyonce on the writings of J R R Tolkien. It's called "It you write it, you have to put a ring in it"
