I've discovered (by possible faux pas) that there's two entirely separate groups.

RavenQuoth Inc, running http://www.nadwcon2017.org - is headed up by Richard Atha-Nicholls and Emily Whitten, both who've run previous North American Discworld Conventions (2009, 2011, 2013)

The website http://nadwcon.org and the twitter account @nadwcon are controlled by the "North American Discworld Connection", and they ran the Discworld Gathering at WorldCon 2015 in Spokane, WA (Sasquan).

The two groups are not affiliated, despite both using "NADWCON" as their initials/accounts. It is a bit of cause for confusion, I know, but as long as we recognise them as separate entities, we should be OK

Good info, thanks Molokov! But, what faux pas could you have possibly committed regarding the two groups? And, shouldn't there only be one group? I thought that there was a sort of approved panel of people who vetted anyone who wanted to run a NADWcon. Didn't they used to make the announcements? Just curious about the process. If we are able to continue the conventions here, that would be wonderful!

Not that I know anything more than anyone else really, but I was in the same room as the Chair when the announcement went live and there will be a 2017 NADWConvention, with full backing of the one person who could allow these things to go on.

As their own website says "In the summer of 2014, RavenQuoth, Inc. received approval from Sir Terry Pratchett to organize future North American Discworld Conventions." Technically, the 2015 meeting wasn't a convention, this will be!

Given that odd-numbered years are already packed (Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, Australia) would it now be a good idea to take advantage of the hiatus and switch to 2018/2020/2022... etc?
