EEB Meeting date pick

Postby Kelshandra » Mon Apr 29, 2013 07:52 pm

Sorry, April was a busy month so lets see if we can come up with a date for the next meeting. Saturday night 9pm GMT (or whatever that is in your time zone). You can vote for one, two, many or lots of the options if you want since people may have more than one night they are willing to attend!

Also would people find they are more likely to come if we have the main events 'tighter?' By that I mean, we start the quiz about 15 min after the start time, with a lucky prize raffle* to follow? Aim for about an hour max with optional chat after?

Meetings will be, as usual, text messenger based using Skype. If you add me (Kelshandra) to your contacts I'll add you to my stamp people list and if you are visible as online at the meeting time you'll be roped into the mayhem. If you decide after the fact that it isn't for you then no worries- tell me and I'll take you off the list.

* I'll dig something up for a prize in my bits and bobs

Starting the quiz closer to the start of the meeting as you suggest sounds like a good idea to me. I will try to remember to come this time if I can make it on hte date. A reminder posted on here earlier in the day would be helpful- but I do realise that for you Kel, earlier in the day means in the middle of the night (if that makes sense), so I understand why you probably wont post one.

for reasons i'm not free to go in to here, neither the 18th nor the 25th suit me at all, I've voted for the 11th, but I seem to be the only eprson to have done so.

5th is fairly unlikely, unless we're having a "I cannot attend the spring event so let's do so virtually" meeting. If it's on a date I cannot make Kel I shall email you the quiz I wrote some.. 4 months ago

Someone else is more than welcome to post a reminder- or I can try to remember to post one before I go to bed but unless insomnia kicks in a few hours warning will be about 3am for me. I'll cross post over in the KT to see if anyone else is interested.

We haven't had one in a very long time and I would love to let us get together and raise a glass. Is it too late to do something?

I don't think it is, often feel rather disconnected from things here in the Finnish lands, so shall a pol be put up, dates thereupon for virtual chattiness? it is after all (looks up and to the right) tradiiiiiiitiooon

Would love to do an e.e.b, I can remember when they were chaotic, misguided, raucous romps though mis information and late arrivals, and non arrivals ( or was that when I got the job for a year ? ) I take it they are now all on smegging skype, but luckily for everyone else I do not have a camera, so your saved at an up close look at this boatrace.
count me in. :D

Fear not, there is no camera involved (as even if we wanted, we can't have a group chat with video/audio for multiple people).

I humbly propose 7pm UTC this Saturday (or whatever that time is in your local time zone). Spread the word, charge your glasses and be there or be a rectangular thing.

6am Sunday morning on the east coast of XXXX for those who are curious.

I'll make a thread on the Kitchen Table to let those who don't lurk here see.

wiki wrote:Coordinated Universal Time (French: temps universel coordonné), abbreviated as UTC, is the primary time standard by which the world regulates clocks and time. It is one of several closely related successors to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). For most purposes, UTC is considered interchangeable with GMT, but GMT is no longer precisely defined by the scientific community.

Or in other words, the same as GMT
