I say, I discovered a new (old) stamp!

Postby Kelshandra » Sat May 28, 2016 02:31 am

This is a bit of a turn up. Last weekend I was having a nice morning putting stamp from my pile into the old yearbook (2014). I got to my worm herder singles, still in the original clear pocket they were sent in. I am happily cutting my stamp mounts to size, when I come up with a problem. One, I didn't seem to have a Quirm 2p and Two, I did have a new stamp I'd never seen before  I went back to the Stamp Catalogue and triple checked, thinking that I had goofed and forgotten to include a stamp, but no effect!

So here it is:
new stamp.jpg

I've emailed Reb (partly to find about the stamp and partly 'cos I didn't want a blank stamp in the album) and this was apparently made for a potential sixth worm herder envelope but only a few sheets were printed. She said she checked the supplies they still have and only a few had this odd stamp and that it's going to be rare as 'Trouble is it looks like we only have the handful that snuck into the made-up sets - when sets/FDCs etc are archived all 'superfluous' material tends to go in our secure recycling bin'.

So um, anyway, if you have not checked your wormherder's it might be worth having a peek.

And now I have to decide if I want to keep the stamp and work out how to pop it into the album or if I put it towards buying a house

Great discovery, Kel!!! :thumbl:

I've just checked and I've got one too :D :D :D
I would have had no idea that this was a rare stamp without your post and I am thrilled to bits to actually have one of the really rare stamps!

Am I the only one who suspects a subversive feminist plot deciding where these rarities would end up??

SHS-AE0426-Aw Last Emperor 2 rhinu misperf.jpg
While having a nice sort through of duplicates to turn in for GCTS I found this nice little gem. :thumbr: While there was no printed sport for the 2 rhinu, this mis-perf is an excellent find. Was the Perforating Pixie a) having a bad day, or b) having a bit of a laugh, or is this another case of "Bored Ian"? There could be another 7 of these out there, 3 more perfed in front of Cohen's face, and 4 perfed through the wave next to the sea gull.  Happy hunting. :D

Not as good as the Agatean, but the first $1 TOAs were quite prone to extra perfs
