Got a text message - I can have the vaccine...

But - there's no appointments available :( . Oh well I get to keep trying, and trying and trying (I might even have the letter by then  )

Had my first jab today - Pfizer

Painless, no side effects of any kind

My partner got a letter inviting her to make an appointment for her vaccine, but when she checked online the only appointments available in the next 2 weeks meant a 30+ mile round trip. Someone she works with suggested contacting her doctor's surgery and she now has an appointment locally for Saturday 27th.

Got to be worth a try I think :)

It is half-term so not home-schooling the grandkids,
However, agreed to have n activity day. I bought a paper marbling kit.
So we had a messy afternoon dripping and mixing colours then creating marbled greetings cards.
Great fun. Kept the grandkids, 7 and 5, reasonably quiet for a couple of hours, and they went away with some great artwork.
A couple of my attempts.

They always look good, and look like (messy) fun.

Got my appointment, the online system gets more appointments added through the day - so keep trying. Yesterday evening we checked again and I now have an appointment tomorrow (<5 miles away).

Now Adrian is moaning he should have waited and get us both done at the same time... He got his due to being shielding, I wouldn't have let him wait. And as he did get the 'oh your immune system has noticed something' symptoms (and all his problems are due to his immune system attacking the wrong targets) he wasn't feeling too well the next day. As we normally react the same way to 'flu shots... both of us moping together isn't fun.

Good luck for everyone else being well until they get to their vaccines!

I'll agree, no different to 'flu (I've definitely had worse jabs). Though the aftercare was amazing!

So my state has moved to a purely age-based vaccination schedule. Their reasoning is that most people with high-risk conditions are in the older groups anyway.

I have some mixed feelings about it, since I was hoping my asthma would get me into the next group, but since they just opened it to 55+, I am going to be in the next group. They are saying 45+ by April, but it only took them two weeks to go from 65 to 55 so maybe sooner...? Anyway, it did perk me up because I did not know if I could get into the high-risk condition group, but I DO know that both my husband and I will be in the next age group, so the certainty boost is nice even if I was hoping for sooner.

Also they think all 16+ by end of May, which includes my son. That gives us hope he could go to this leadership seminar he wants to attend in July.

Our goal has been to get through this without getting sick, and yay it seems we're in the home stretch! :sunny:

Know what you mean. Since Christmas, we have been homeschooling the grandchildren weekday afternoons. Been great and challenging.
Unfortunately, from next Monday they are, thanks to this idiot government, going back to school.
We have only had the first jab, so we are having to distance ourselves from the kids.
