A Hogswatch Carol

Postby hansolobiker » Wed Dec 01, 2021 02:18 pm

Way back in pre-history around 14BC( before Covid) there was an event called Hogswatch in the sleepy town of Wincanton. Prior to one such event , there was a request for Hogswatch Carols which I don't remember as ever being fulfilled, though it appears that I did enter this as part of that request. Ladies and Gentlemen, Witches and Wizards one and all, i give you........

GLINGLE BELLS

Dashing through the snow
On a four boar open sledge
Across the fields we go
And straight through the hedge
Witches all abed
Shops all closed up tight
Oh what fun it is to ride
A sledge on Hogswatchnight

Oh! Glingleglingleglingle bells
Glingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
A four boar open sleigh
Glingleglingleglingle bells
Glingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
A four boar open sleigh

Hams and bacon joints
Sausages fat and thin
Scratchings crisp and brown
Black pudding for a king
Stand pies with crusts of gold
For every goodly home
And if you’ve been a naughty child
A bag of bloody bones

Oh! Glingleglingleglingle bells
Glingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
A four boar open sleigh
Glingleglingleglingle bells
Glingle al the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
A four boar open sleigh

I thank you!

Love it, hansolobiker!

There's a couple of carols in Stephen Briggs' script for Hogfather (one at the start of each act).

And I know that Tania Lewis has been writing a few which will appear in our Virtual Hogswatch event next week (shameless plug: https://2022.ausdwcon.org/convention/virtual-hogswatch/ )

Best carol ever!
Outmaneuvered on all counts, I opt to change the rules.

That’s excellent!
Humans are always slightly lost. It's a basic characteristic. It explains a lot about them
