Hope no one minds that I've nicked a picture from your website to use in my Salisbury talk! It's the Xmas one with Andrew and the "Broken Drum", erm, drum...
My next project is a book in which I explore the influence of the music of Beyonce on the writings of J R R Tolkien. It's called "It you write it, you have to put a ring in it"

Any one interested in joining The Night Watch at the Tower of London? :D

I saw this advertised at The Tower of London and thought it might be interesting . . .

https://www.hrp.org.uk/tower-of-london/ ... gs._B_OZs0

NIGHTWATCHERS is an immersive night-time experience at the Tower of London directed by award-winning digital theatre company ANAGRAM. Step into a shadowy world of state surveillance, where messages and phone calls lead you around one of our most notorious prisons; this is your induction into the art of covert investigation.

The story moves between contemporary London and the most dramatic years of the Elizabethan secret service. Faith, violence and the invisible lines between truth and justice collide, and you must find your way guided by the stories of code-breakers, law enforcers and radical religious extremists.

In a climate of global insecurity, NIGHTWATCHERS asks where is the line between security and oppression? Who watches the watchers?

It's running on Friday 9th & 16th + Saturday 10th, 17th & 24th

For anyone not a Facebonker:

Helen has organised for us to go on Saturday 24th February, in the 6pm slot. It should last for about an hour or so, so plenty of time for a bite to eat and a few drinkies afterwards in one of the local pubs.

If you'd like to join us for a night-time wander around the Tower while learning about some grisly goings on, here's the link to book your ticket - https://ticketslive.hrp.org.uk/hrp/b2c/index.cfm/adult.learning/eventcode/ADED/eventdate/2018-02-09?_ga=2.264047115.664984433.1516715892-1638961523.1515694827

Your link auto-books for 9th feb, not 24th

Probably should be

Apparently it's so mysterious I haven't been sent one yet . . .

Mind you Helen did buy my ticket for me, so it's probably gone to her. Did it self destruct after 10 seconds or can you tell me what's in it?

Well, I could, but then I'd have to terminate you with extreme lethargy

 well in that case I'd probbly have time to read the letter and attend the Tower on Saturday - course you could poison me when we go for food afterwards, but if you wouldn't mind waiting until after I've had pudding I'd be much obliged

I'll be Over There 16 September through 4 October. At this early date should I plan to crash the Drummers, and on which date? I'm sort of planning on 1 October, but if that's not right I'm early enough in the planning to yank my schedule around. Any Londoners want to host a quiet* American DW fan for a few days? - I can provide testimonials**, and promise to go off and wander the British Museum or similar so as not to be underfoot.
* although I may babble constantly about birds or stamps
**for a given value of testimonial
Cheers -

Helen & I are planning to get there for about 5.30ish in order to be able to sidle up to innocent tourists and terrify the life out of them by whispering "The significant owl hoots at midnight!" at them . . .
