Doncaster council are having a Twitter voting competition to name this winter's gritting machines. The finalists are:

Gritsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Anti-Slip Machinery
Spready Mercury
Basil Salty
David Plowie
On Twitter? Get voting!: https://twitter.com/MyDoncaster/status/931201015977738241

Oh and apparently GrittyMcGritFace was disqualified early on . . . possibly for shovelling . . . geddit? Oh please yourselves

Another council did a similar competition last year, it was called Nicole Saltslinger after the X Factor judge from last year; Gritsy Bitsy etc was a finalist then, too.

[regarding Alan Rickman] He had Tim Curry's ability to save the day by putting literally all the scenery in his mouth and gnawing on it like a deranged woodchuck.

Doug Jones defeated the serial child molester, homophobe, racist, and all-around bigot Roy Moore in the Alabama special election for the Senate.

Great news wasn't it? Did you catch Stephen Colbert's monologue on it? :D
I really wish we got The Late Show on TV over this side of the pond so I didn't have keep clicking the ruddy skip-ad on YouTube every 3 minutes
