I'm not generally fond of apples, but that sounds yummy!

Well, good news, yes, bad news, coming to the drummers is a 3 hour each-way trip from Bristol :(

I managed to grow borlotti beans this summer - had about 200g of dried beans for my (poor) efforts!

Tonight we had bean and sausage stew (Italian style)

Basically sausages turned into meatballs cooked in tomato and stock sauce with the cooked beans added in.

I loved it but I'm under instruction to use passata instead of tomatoes next time...

Oh and plenty left for stew lunches :D

Tonight its chips and beans with something ...breakfast was intresting, poached eggs on toast, if you cook them in a microwave without a lid, they DO explode! :lol: Guess whos cleaning the microwave later on. :)

Monday was roast beef and mashed potatoes and broccoli. Yesterday was spaghetti and asparagus, tonight is navy bean soup.

Had un exploded poached eggs for breakfast ( a bit over cooked, but resembling eggs and not a Jackson pollock painting )
Tonights dinner is cottage pie, with loads of steamed veg, and gravy , might make a Wobbler for pud.

Last night - fragrant Thai chicken curry (too much harissa so that's why I'm calling it fragrant. And yes I KNOW harissa is a Mediterranean/middle east spice, it just happens to work extremely well with the Thai spice palate)

Tonight ... ? Not sure. Are we eating after your lecture Pat :D

I'v been mining snaggy leftovers for the past few days. Tonight it's the remnants of the venison in raspberry sauce with sweet red pepper soup. While I'm glad to see the last of a few things, it means I have to cook this weekend or starve next week. Have put thin pork chops and a butterflied leg of lamb in the reefer. Pork will get stewed. Lamb is too small to roast so I need some inspiration (lamb with green beans, sweet peppers, and bananananananas might happen)

Following on from the extremely fantastic eating experience in New Orleans, I am going to try out a Gumbo recipe on my friends this evening! Watch out for details of the outcome.

Last night was gumbo, as it happens
Salmon, chicken, oxtail, and all variety of vegetables and herbs and spices (and powdered sassafrass leaves as thickener/flavour)
Served with roast sweet porato slices

Today will be Morrocan lamb - slow roasted in tomatoes, onions, red bell peppers, harrissa, black pepper, ginger, garlic, prunes, apricot, oregano, lemon juice for as long as it takes for the tomatoes to deliquesce
Served with spinach and mashed potato

I restocked the freezer this weekend with 6 quarts of chili and 8 quarts of spaghetti sauce, and tried a new recipe for Moroccan lamb stew (with carrots, potato, rutabaga, prunes, raisins, tomatoes, onions, garlic, chickpeas, and half the spice cabinet) served over couscous. Yum! Lunch for the next few days, too. :D Will use sweet potato instead of white potato next time, to keep with the orange vegetable scheme.

Have just made a wonderful discovery: lightly buttered slices of chocolate chip Panetonne bread are heaven :D :D :D

Will be going out first thing tomorrow morning on the hunt for another one or several . . .

we wos well naughty, pitzza and wedges, our second take away of the year ( not counting meals out in resturants ) just put on pulled pork for tomorrow, so we can wake up and have breakfast have a lazy ish day, then put on sugarsnap peas, and carrots , then switch the slowcooker off, and transfer the meat, tear it apart, and add the sauce. YUM! :D

Dexter rump steak tonight. Not large steaks but dexter are small cows, as this one was almost a pet it will taste of happy cow too.
