RIP Robert Guillaume

Just found out he died a couple of days ago

Arguably the single character from Soap that made the show hold together so well, brilliant as the Governor's butler then lieutenant governor in Benson, voiced Rafiki the mandrill in The Lion King, and most recently superbly cast as the managing editor of Sportsnight - it was about a TV show about a Network TV show about Sport, yet I still watched every episode! (partly due to Aaron Sorkin's writing but mostly due to the incredible cast and performances, including RG)

He was also the only person to win two Emmys for portraying the same character in different TV shows

RIP

Oh bother. Time to break out the Soap box-set (Soap box? Get it? Oh please yourselves...)
My next project is a book in which I explore the influence of the music of Beyonce on the writings of J R R Tolkien. It's called "It you write it, you have to put a ring in it"

That's sad news. I only remember Benson, but I did love him in that as a kid - might have to investigate Soap on DVD. RIP Robert
