A little something about a certain young apprentice.

The Apprentice

I had a word with young Reb last night who told me quite a tale
Of a young upcoming artificer, apprentice to his trade
Who thinks himself to be the one who’ll make the world his own
And take upon the mantle, the sceptre and the crown
Perhaps to be Patric-ian?

His skills are wide and varied,he works with wood and steel
His fingers they are nimble, to turn the lathe and wheel
With lengths of twisty wire he solders and he twists
Exotic mad creations from out the smoky mists
Is this electric-ian?

He hums as he is working from songs that have no tune
The words he cant remember,de dum de dum de doo
He sometimes taps upon the bench his concentration wavers
As he forgets the task in hand and reaches for the Quavers
Maybe music-ian

He hurries through the workshop, mad look upon his face
His mind with leaps of fancy, follows from place to place
Above, below, beyond and through, betwixt, between and yon
Whatever he had thought of now from his mind has gone
Ah Jessica Ennis! Olymp-ian

When ere we meet our busy friend he always has a smile
He’ll offer you a biscuit if you will stay a while
Upon his lips a merry quip,a jest, a story bold
A nod, a wink, a little laugh of secrets yet untold.
That’s comed-ian
'If they give you ruled paper ,write the other way!'
