OK, as my receipt of the website update emails is no better than (and in many cases significantly worse than, due to frequent wanderings) everyone elses, I've opened up this thread so anyone can update it and let everybody know when they receive an update email.

Two small requests though please - only one post per email and as usual no digressions ;)

For release tomorrow, Friday 15th February, two new Tower of Art stamps. Two, I hear you cry? Yes, two.

For the Year of the Three Roses, the new dollar Tower of Art is in shades of chocolate and violet. As usual, there are 18 to a sheet and there are no sports on the sheet. The other is a new 50p green Tower of Art as mentioned in ‘Making Money’ (page 153 of the English print, if you want to check). It’s slightly smaller than the $1 and there are 28 to a sheet. Both designs will be available until February 2009.

The new stamps will not feature in LBEs until a new run is launched next week. Also available for sale next week, the Troll postcard.

Don’t forget that the Year of the Reversed Ptarmigan Tower of Art will be withdrawn at the end of this month, as will the Seamstress Guild 2p.
Everything comes to them that wait.

Subject: A Soldier Writes Home

No matter what their specie might be, all soldiers on active duty find solace in communicating with the folks back home, even if that home is Ankh-Morpork. Trolls, it seems, are no exception, and during recent hostilities in Koom Valley it was not uncommon for serving trolls to send messages to family and friends in Ankh-Morpork via Sergeant Detritus. These *postcards* (for want of a better word) were hewn from the living rock of Koom Valley, and just 100 are known to have survived to reach their destination.

These 100 troll postcards, together with a numbered certificate of authenticity, will be available for purchase from 9.30am GMT on Friday 22 February.

Also available from Friday will be the new Spring LBE. Every LBE will contain one each of the two new Tower of Art stamps, and as well as the usual mix of sports and variations, one in 25 LBEs will contain a Tower of Art $1 sport. We are also dismayed to have to note the possibility that 50p Tower of Art forgeries engraved by Mr Owlswick Jenkins may have strayed into the LBE assembly area. If you are unlucky enough to find a forged 50p green Tower of Art in your LBE we will be happy to exchange it for a real one. Fortunately, this should be a very rare occurrence.

This newsletter has been brought to you by a shiny new system kindly devised for us by Black Widow Design. The system gives you the opportunity to add options for newsletters you might wish to receive, or remove them, or to unsubscribe altogether if you're daft enough. Available from today, the 49 page supplement that brings the
Discworld Stamp Album right up to the end of the Year of the
Reversed Ptarmigan (December 2007) including the 2007 Hogswatch
stamps.

This huge undertaking has been compiled by Mike Pleasants with
source material from Helen Hill, Ken James and our own archives -
who would have thought a year in stamps could be so richly varied
or so fraught with mishap?

The supplement is supplied in its own ring binder and will cost
£20.00 plus postage and packing. Find it on the album page or in
Stamps - New Products.

Also available from today, a new consulate envelope bearing both
new Tower of Art stamps.

Early warning of the next limited edition LBE: the Samedi Nuite
Morte will be released on Saturday May 15, but will be available
to order from the previous Tuesday. We are also planning the
companion piece to the Troll Postcard - the Dwarf Bread postcard
- but don't have a date for that yet.

We are planning an LBE 'season ticket' - if you would like
details, please email to the usual address:
hilary@cunningartificer.demon.co.uk

I suspect that the text in tonights official "heads-up" email (as reported above) should read Saturday March 15.

Would this be correct?

As threatened in our last communication, we can now unveil the
LBE Season Ticket in all its shining glory. Thank you to
everyone who has given us feedback on the draft proposal.

It will be a particular boon for all of you in particularly
far-flung forn parts who would have to get up (or stay up) at
some unearthly hour to place an order for a limited edition LBE,
but we hope it will also assist those much closer to home whose
memories have been somewhat diminished by age or alcohol or both,
or those who have lives crowded with important events.

Whatever your reason, be sure that I have buffed up my shiny blue
card index box ready for all eventualities.

Sadly not covered by the LBE season ticket, our next offering
will be the Dwarf Bread postcard which we hope to bring to you by
the end of the week.

On Monday an omnibus edition of The Colour of Magic and The Light
Fantastic is published, with a cover showing Sir David Jason as
Rincewind, Sean Astin as Twoflower and the Luggage as... the
Luggage. We are of course offering this edition for purchase,
with the added bonus that it is fully insured by the Consulate
Colonial Insurance Company*.

We are gradually adding to the number of books available to order
on-line, and every book bought from us will have an exclusive
bookplate or bonus item, and many are now supplied with set of
five postcards (worth £1.50) absolutely free, including The
Colour of Magic.

Launching on Tuesday 11 March at 9.30am GMT will be the Dwarf
Bread Postcard and the Samedi Nuit Mort LBE. There will be 101
dwarf bread postcards - the extra one will go to the chap who had
the bright idea, Martyn Ransom aka Doc Brown, and they will be
sent out immediately.

There will be just 500 Samedi Nuit Mort LBEs and although they
can be ordered from Tuesday, they will not be released until
Saturday 15th. In addition to the usual mix, there will be a
special Baron Samedi stamp in every LBE, and some stamps will
have a unique frank which will only feature in this LBE and
nowhere else, no matter how hard you plead. Everyone who has
already subscribed for the LBE season ticket is guaranteed to
receive a Samedi Nuit Mort LBE (per season ticket), but if you
are still thinking about it, please be sure to subscribe today to
make sure of receiving this particular LBE.

In the next newsletter we hope to bring you details of the May
bash.

* Subject to the terms and conditions of the policy, a copy of
which can be seen at the offices of the insurance agents, c/o The
Ankh-Morpork Consulate, Wincanton.

Klatch as Klatch can

Is there anything to look forward to when the end credits of The
Colour of Magic have finished rolling, the easter holiday is
over, and the chocolate has all been eaten?

Yes! Our agent in Al Khali has secured a consignment of new
stamps produced for the Klatchian postal service which we will
offer for your delight and edification next Wednesday, 26 March.
The rumour that Teemer and Spools had a hand in their production
can now be confirmed, for we will also be offering the A5 proof
sheet which they presented to Klatchian officials.

Following an idle conversation between our agent and a Klatchian
commodity broker while they were waiting for their camels to be
serviced, the Consulate has been bombarded by letters from a
'Princess Sheebah Koffee Company'. Their mailing department has
been, to put it mildly, a little over-zealous, for we now have
200 letters from this company, offering to supply the Consulate
with a particular blend of Klatchian coffee. Fortunately, all
bear both of the new stamps, and may therefore be of interest to
flatalists. Like the stamps and the proof sheets, these will be
released next Wednesday, and available to order from Tuesday
evening.

Other collectors may be interested in a range of 'tobacco tins'
now available to order. These are the same sturdy little tins
that tobacco used to be sold in, and are really useful for
keeping things in. The designs are, of course, exclusive to the
Cunning Artificer, and include The Jolly Sailor leaf tobacco,
which has been available in the shop for years and is now
appearing on the website for the first time due to popular
demand.

The April Fool LBE (2008) will be available to order from 9.30am
on Tuesday 1 April. There will be just 500. Season ticket
holders will be certain of securing one per ticket, of course, so
if you have been considering buying an LBE season ticket, next
week might be a good time to do it.

April Fool

Another reminder that we'll be launching the limited edition
April Fool LBE at 9.30am on Tuesday April 1. There will be just
500, and 72 of those have already been reserved for season ticket
holders. Every one will contain the ill-fated 'Guild of Heralds'
stamp, known around here as the Y-front stamp (you'll see why),
and one in 5 will contain a Guild of Heralds sport. There will
also be one each of the new Klatch stamps, including some sports.

At the same time we'll be releasing a Guild of Herald Consulate
envelope. This won't be limited in number, but we'll only sell
them in April, so they're limited by time. By the way, if you
want to know the full story behind the Guild of Herald stamp,
it'll be in the forthcoming Stanley Howler Journal issue 14,
which will be published this month.

And finally, we'll also be making available our new Discworld
Emporium t-shirt, a handsome design by Bernard on a black
background, for the princely sum of £11.95 plus P&P. Because
you're worth it.

With the utmost regret....

On the 7th April, Royal Mail will be increasing their postal charges, and the cost of posting a small board-backed envelope will rise from 46p to 52p.

From the start we have tried to avoid charging postage and packing for UK stamp orders, to encourage youngsters in particular and people on limited incomes to enjoy collecting Discworld stamps as cheaply as possible. But we are also very conscious that stamps and stamp products must arrive in the best possible condition.

The small board-back is our most useful packaging, the one we use most of. Proof sheets and commemorative covers fit in it a treat. But when the Royal Mail decided that it could no longer be sent at the ordinary letter rate, that it should henceforth be a ‘Large Letter’, the cost of posting every small board-back envelope went up by 32%.

We should probably have introduced a UK postal charge at that point, but we thought that board-back manufacturers would take the hint and produce a slightly smaller envelope that would qualify as ‘C5’ and could be posted at the standard letter rate.
Sadly, this hasn’t happened, and now the postage is going up a further 17%.

It is therefore with the utmost regret that we have to announce that from 7th April we will be charging a flat rate 50p postage and packing for all UK stamp orders. The new charge will start to be applied to orders during the course of Sunday 6th April.

There will be no change to postage charged for stamp orders going to Europe or the rest of the World.

Greetings from Djelibeybi!

News has reached us that Djelibeybi has followed Klatch’s
example and has introduced two new stamps. The 5 Ptascp features
Offler, and the 1 talon has, you will be surprised to learn,
pyramids.

Gil the Embalmer has taken advantage of this new postal service
to write to the Guild of Embalmers in Ankh-Morpork, and we will
be offering 200 facsimiles of this document, which bears both new
stamps and the official Djelibeybi postal frank.

The new LBE, a Travellers’ Special, will be launched on the same
day, and will at first contain one each of the new stamps, though
we may change the mix during the lifetime of the LBE as it is
scheduled to run throughout May and June. And of course, that
means that some of them will contain sports of the new stamps.
If there are sports. I couldn’t possibly comment on that.

And while we’re in Djelibeybi mode, we’re also re-introducing the
Ptaclusp Coaster.

All these goodies will be on the website and available to order
from Thursday, 1 May.

Apologies for not giving you longer warning, but after various
alarms and excursions with the East Anglian printers, I wanted to
be sure that the stamps were at least on their way to us before
getting you all excited.

It takes all Tsorts

The May Meet is upon us with lots of new goodies.

The flatalists among you will already know about the May Meet LBE
and the prizes on offer, but we will of course also be releasing
a new stamp, from Tsort. Spurred on by the philatelic advances
of their neighbours in Klatch and Djelibeybi, the fledgling Tsort
Postal Service has commissioned a stamp from Teemer and Spools,
who naturally plumped for an image of Tsort’s famous Great
Pyramid. The stamp will be formally issued on Saturday 24 May,
but is now available to order.

Almost before the ink was dry, this stamp has appeared on a
letter addressed to the Military Attache here at the Ankh-Morpork
Consulate. It turns out to be a promotional pamphlet from
Patrocles Phixer and Sons, Tsort’s leading manufacturer of Equine
Based Weapons Delivery Systems. Just 200 copies of this letter
have been created, and will be released on Saturday May 24 at the
May Meet, but will not be available to order from the website
until noon on Tuesday 27 May.

The Unseen University First Day Cover is now sold out, but
collectors of clear franks now have a special UU Consulate Cover
as consolation.

We have other new stuff to tempt you with. Many of you have
already spotted the little box of Embalming Salts from the Old
Kingdom. And in the Pedlar’s Basket, we are also now stocking
Water Divining Rods for dowsing, and some fiendish wooden
puzzles. There may be more to come next week…..
