This weekend we welcome the coming of the Spring with our annual gathering of friends and fans in Wincanton...

Festivities include a Didjabringabeeralong Party on Friday night at the Bear, Iconographers workshop - a chance to be captured in your Discworld finery, and humorously shaped vegetables contest on Saturday, Grand Charity Auction on Saturday night, Church of Om service and Ankh-Morpork Trespassers Society expedition to Stourhead house on Sunday. Being conveniently held in Wincanton town, there are plentiful dining opportunities and amusements, including the Assassins' Guild lunchtime canteen at the Bear, a Makers' Market at the Balsam centre open all weekend. Those fond of a drop of scumble may wish to try Uncle Tom's cider house where over fifty different varieties await the brave! For more goings-on visit the events bit on our Facebook page

As many may know we've taken a step back from the organising side of things this year due to various commitments, but worry not - the Discworld Emporium's doors will be open all weekend, so do pop in and say hello!

To coincide with the weekend's frivolities there will be new offerings from Discworld Stamps including the Bloodaxe and Ironhammer 4p, and Golem Trust 5p along with the 'May Operatic' LBE - a lucky dip assortment of Discworld stamps. Every LBE in this edition will contain both new issues, and the chance to obtain sports and exclusive prizes, including that of the rare Blue Triangle - for more details view our preview page here: http://www.discworldemporium.com/discwo ... uct_id=373

All new stamps and the May LBE will be available to purchase at the event iself, and online from Wednesday 8th May from the New Stamps section of our site. The LBE will be sold in two batches at 10:00am and 6:00pm BST, and as a limited edition of 1000 this may sell out very quickly - to avoid disappointment season tickets are available here: http://www.discworldemporium.com/discwo ... uct_id=253

We will shortly have a new addition to our Discworld Print Folio range for Spring, being a beautiful rendition of Granny Weatherwax's cottage based on an original woodcut by Sheila Watkins - keep your eyes on your inboxes and on the Print Folio Pages here: http://www.discworldemporium.com/cunnin ... nt%20folio

How do they Rise Up

The Glorious 25th of May is nearly upon us, so fetch the lilac and remember the brave souls of the People's Republic of Treacle Mine Road!

It's become a tradition for the Emporium to celebrate the boys of the barricades with special commemorative items, and this year is no exception. We've an exclusive bundle of artefacts from the Guild of Historians comprising a sumptuously illustrated fold out map and historical treatise, and a letter from the Guild President to Lord Vetinari presented in an envelope decorated with a limited edition lilac version of our Penny Patrician' Discworld Stamp, and yet-to-be released Historians' Guild 3p issue. We've only 200 'Glorious 25th of May Commemorative packs' on offer, and they will be made available on Saturday May 25th itself. To preview these lovely items click HERE.

Also from Saturday, the special edition Lilac Patrician, together with a matching Glorious 25th of May postal label, will also be available as a full sheet of stamps, and in our Glorious 25th of May LBE - a Little Brown Envelope full of assorted Discworld stamps with a chance of sports and rarities. Each envelope is guaranteed to contain a joined pair of Lilac Patrician and postal labels, and a much requested mint example of the $1 Duty stamp from our Portal properties 'A Place in the Shades' portfolios. Sheets and LBEs are available while stocks last and can be previewed in the New Stamps section of our site.

And finally, as a little light relief, our ever-popular Seamstress Guild 'Token of Affection' has a brassy new look. Each token is affixed to a keyring and entitles the recipient to a free 'Tuppenny Upright' as brought to mention in Night Watch itself. Find it HERE.

Greetings one and all,

The Emporium will soon be attending our second convention of the year, being the North American Discworld Convention, Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel, on July 5-8th. We'll have our travelling shop in tow with a fine selection of goodies from our range, and be entertaining ears with our Discworld related chatter in a series of Coffee Klatches and panel talks. For a brief overview of the convention check out our News blog HERE, or head to the main NADWCon website: https://www.nadwcon.org/.

As premiered at the Australian Discworld Convention back in March, our limited edition Bugarup University sticker is finally available in the Printed Ephemera Section of our site. This cheerful sticker is probably the safest souvenir that students, academia and alumni could hope to acquire from the Last Continent! Find it HERE.

Another recent addition to our range is our gorgeous woodcut print of Granny Weatherwax's Cottage. Complete with beehives, goats and herb garden, this characterful depiction evokes the sights, sounds and smells of summer in the Ramtops, and as part of our exclusive Print Folio range is limited to a run of only 200 worldwide. It can be viewed HERE.

Lastly, the third installment in our Minisheet Collection from Discworld Stamps has arrived! As part of a series celebrating the minor guilds of Ankh-Morpork this neat little stamp sheet pays homage to the Guild of Barber-surgeons, and is accompanied by a postcard that provides a potted history of the guild and its accomplishments. The Guild of Barber-Surgeons 2p Minisheet is available from the New Stamps section of our site.

Wishing you all the best,
You are welcome at The Discworld Stamp Collector on FaceBook and The Discworld Stamp Collector web site which has in-depth reviews of some issues and collectable items.

Hogswatch 2013 and other happenings...

Greetings one and all,

Far be it from us to wish the summer away, but we're getting rather excitable about all things Hogswatch. That's because this year also marks the 30th anniversary of Discworld, and we'll be doing our best to celebrate the occasion at our annual Hogswatch festivities in Wincanton on 29th November - 1st December.

Merriments will include a series of Unseen University Hogswatch lectures, theatrical entertainments, feasting, gaming, charitable amusements and, if you've been good little boys and girls, a visitation from a certain Hogfather, all held in venues throughout Ankh-Morpork's own twin town in a weekend of Pratchett-related wonder. More details of what Hogswatch holds in store can be found on the Discworld Emporium Website here: http://www.discworldemporium.com/Hogswatch and on the events bit of our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/events/422656181176405/ with more details being revealed as the date draws nearer.

Of course by that time we'll all have a brand new Discworld novel to chat about as the 40th book in the series, Raising Steam, has been rescheduled for release on the 7th November, and if Paul Kidby's cover artwork is anything to go by we're in for a thrilling ride! With new books in mind, we can reveal that Ian and Bernard of the Emporium have been cooking up some interesting stuff at the behest of Terry and Transworld Publishers. We can speak no more about it, but they do seem to be enjoying themselves far too much.

Another celebration of Pratchett's work takes the form of the Brighton & Hove City Reads festival, which this year is dedicated to Guards! Guards!, and will feature an evening with the creator himself along with talks, readings, movie screenings and fine fodder. For tickets and information visit http://cityreads.co.uk/city-reads-2013/events-programme

Lastly, a Discworld Emporium newsletter would hardly be complete without news of an addtion to the Discworld Stamps range. The Guild of Embalmers 2p Minisheet is the latest in a series of issues celebrating the smaller, but no less important, of Ankh-Morpork's guilds. Featuring six stamps and a presentation card this lovely little item is a charming addition to any Discworld collection and can be viewed HERE.
