Pins, Games, and Grown-Up Stuff!

We've had a busy little week or two preparing lots of goodies for discerning Discworld fans, and we have rather an interesting lot to tell you about...

This week sees the launch of the long anticipated Discworld Board Game, Ankh-Morpork.

Winner of Best New Board Game in Britain at the UK Games Expo, Ankh-Morpork will astonish and astound all who play it. We may of course be a little bit biased having played a major role in it's production, but it is nonetheless a corking game of which we are very proud.

Trouble is brewing on the mean streets of Ankh-Morpork, and it's time for you to play your part in its story. Be one of seven personalities vying for control of the Discworld's premier city using your cunning and guile to complete your secret agenda. Along the way you'll encounter Wizards, Assissins, Watchmen and Theives... all of whom will affect your fortunes and contiunally change the face of this mercantile metropolis.

Whether you're hungry for power, wealth, property of simply trying to keep the peace, each visit to Ankh-Morpork promises a different player experience. This beautifully aesthetic game immerses the player in Pratchett's most unruly city, bringing Discworld to life at every turn Featuring 143 individually ilustrated cards depicting the city's most beloved characters, locations and organisations, Ankh-Morpork blends multifaceted gameplay with rich visual stylings and the distinctive humour of Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld series.

Up to four players can assign minions to carry out their dirty work, playing on a stunning map of the city, but beware of random magic and nefarious a_ctions dealt by your cards and opponents that threaten to thwart your rise to the top.
Available to preview now, and to purchase from Monday 5th September from the link below:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, it was remiss of us not to explain that, as we type this message, we are all wearing berets and smocks whilst drinking free champagne. This is because today marks the beginning of The Discworld Emporium's Big Grown-Up Art Sale.

We'd like to offer you the chance to own a piece of original artwork from the Emporium's associate artist, Peter Dennis. Peter has been a professional illustrator for more years than he would care to mention, and having worked with us to complete over a hundred new Discworld images for the Ankh-Morpork Board Game, and being daft enough to sign up for a further two years work with the Emporium, he will doubtless make a name for himself in the wider Discworld fraternity.

And so, we offer the chance to add something special to your Discworld collection. We have for sale a set of four original miniature paintings, created for use on our recent 'Great Inventors of Ankh-Morpork' Discworld stamps. Portraits of Leonard of Quirm and Bloody stupid johnson, alongside two of their greatest inventions, The Kite and The Postal Sorting Engine, have been painted in exquisite detail on a single length of high quality Illustrators board in Acrylic ink and according to our brief.
As we are selling on behalf of the artist, this piece is going up for sealed bid Auction. To view the piece and for details on bidding, please follow the link below. Bidding closes on Monday the 19th of September, and the winning bidder will be contacted thereafter:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

And Finally, for Discworld Stamp fans, we have a special Limited Edition Postal Artefact - The Dave's Pin and Stamp Exchange Perforator Pack!

Dave of Dave's Pin and Stamp Exchange is no fool. Acuphilia is on the wane, and he knows that today's Pin Head is often tempted to let the pin drop in favour of the glamorous and colourful world of the postage stamp. To stem the tide, he cleverly created a product that would combine the traditional charm of pins with all the excitement of stamps and celebrate the point where pin meets paper:

Perforating Pins! The Hole Point!

This limited edition postal artefact recreates an order sent from Dave's Pin and Stamp Exchange from his new line. This item will be available on this item will go on sale on Thursday the 8th of September 2011. 50 will be released at 10am BST, and the final 50 will go on sale at 6pm BST the same day to give overseas buyers a better chance of not being asleep!

Door Decor and a Touch of Klatch‏

Postby Muba » Mon Sep 19, 2011 07:05 pm

Greetings and felicitations!

Are you tired of unwelcome interruptions and irritating intrusions? Fed up with invasions of space and privacy? Our new item of home ware is sure to prevent such nuisances and add a touch of Discworld character to dreary knobs and doors. Our Discworld Door Hangers are available as a pack of five designs to suit every inhabitant of your home whether Igor, Seamstress, Wizard, Thief or Granny, and also double up as a nifty bookmark!

As the observant among you will be aware, the new addition to our Discworld Stamps range, the Klatch 2Wol issue, is also now available. This attractive, diamond-shaped stamp is available singly or orientated to resemble an exotic tile on a whole sheet of 36, and has been produced In shades of coffee and maroon on a cream base - a nod to the aromatic and mysterious Klatchian nation.

The Klatch 2Wol is also available in each of the new ‘Klatch it if you kan’ LBEs, being little brown envelopes containing a selection of current Discworld stamps with the chance of ‘sports’ and rarities. At least one in fifty LBEs in this edition contains a blue triangle stamp, and a generous smattering of Klatch 2Wol sports. See it for yourselves here.

And finally, the marvellous Guards! Guards! Board Game from Backspindle Games and Z-Man has now been added to our inventory and can been found in the Games and Activities section of our website. Congratulations to David Brashaw and Leonard Boyd on such a fine production.

Best wishes to you all,

Discworld Emporium

Greetings one and all,

This week, our noble figurehead, Bernard Pearson, is hitting the road and taking the Discworld Emporium’s travelling shop Germany-wards, as the third German Discworld Convention gets going at Don’tgonearthecastle Castle Bilstein in Lennestadt this weekend from the 30thSeptember to the 2ndOctober.
There will be a selection of our bits and bobs for sale, but mostly Bernard will be entertaining the crowds and getting to grips with his snitzel. We would like to wish the very best of luck to the committee and the best of times to all who are attending.

To celebrate what will likely be a riotous and beery adventure we’ve some traditional convention-commemorative stamp items to tickle your fancy. On Monday 3rdOctober a limited edition LBE will go on sale containing a Scheibenwelt Convention label in every envelope along with a mix of Discworld stamps from our current range. There is as always, the chance of finding sports and rarities along with generous scattering of Scheibenwelt label sports. Only 750 of these LBEs will be available, and after season tickets have been allocated to the remainder will be made available in two batches, at 10am and 6pm BST.

We’ve also produced 250 commemorative covers, 100 of which will be only available at the convention itself. These particular covers will have a German-language insert and purple cancellation mark while the remaining 150 will be available on Monday 3rdOctober and have a red cancellation and an insert written in English. All covers have a mint Scheibenwelt Convention label included.

Both items are available for preview in the New Stamps section of our site.

All the very best,
Discworld Emporium

Not sure this is strictly Website Announcements - but it arrived in my in-box a few hours ago...

The wait is finally over!

Snuff, the 39th book in the Discworld series, and Sir Terry’s 50th novel is now in
the grubby mitts of Pratchett fans worldwide. If you haven’t got your copy yet, you
can find it here at your local friendly Discworld Emporium, where it’s full steam
ahead* for the Wonderful Fanny and Roberta E. Biscuit…

To celebrate the book’s official launch this week, the marvellous riverboats
featured in the book have been captured in pen and ink by Peter Dennis and Ian
Mitchell for new items evocative of Vimes’ adventures on “Old Treachery”. We’ve new
Discworld Stamps of course; The Wonderful Fanny 7 pence and Roberta E. Biscuit 3p,
available to own now from the New Stamps bit on our
website:http://www.discworldemporium.com/catalog.php?category=17
Each stamp is available in a whole sheet, singly, and in a new Little Brown Envelope
edition; the ‘Up The Creek’ LBE, which can also in the New Stamps section.

The ‘Riverboat Post’ double issue stamps also feature on a special souvenir postcard
from The Wonderful Fanny itself. The postcard is accompanied by a ticket to ride,
and cancelled with a hand stamp, making this a wonderful piece of true Discworld
Ephemera. This marvellous artefact will be available from Friday 21st October.
Preview this item here:

In other news…

Due to popular demand, our Tiffany Aching Ring has been re-mastered, and reproduced
in solid silver. This lovely piece is very dear to our hearts so we’re glad to have
it back on our shelves. The new edition ring is now stamped with the Discworld
hallmark and accompanied by a tiny poem, the ‘Lay of the Wintersmith’. To see the
piece follow this ‘ere link:

The Emporium’s facelift is now well under way, and with the blessing of favourable
weather we are thankfully on target for re-opening in November. We apologise once
again to those who intended to visit us during this time, and hope we will have
another chance to meet again in the future.

All the very best
Discworld Emporium

Eire and Sausages!

Salutations one and all!

The Discworld Emporium’s travelling shop has hit the road, the Irish Sea, and the road again to travel to the Irish Discworld Convention in Ennistymon. Our intrepid leader Bernard Pearson is Guest of honour and shall be regaling the gathered crowds with tales of his adventures in Discworld, providing an insight into our upcoming projects, and no doubt offering a pinch of Snuff here and there.

As sticklers for tradition, we have produced a commemorative cover (a celebratory decorative envelope to the non-philatelist) to celebrate the event. A limited edition of 200, each cover is decorated with the 2011 Irish Discworld Convention label, cancelled with an exclusive frank, and is accompanied by a descriptive insert slip. A mint example of the 2011 Irish Discworld convention label is also included. Find it HERE!

The next Discworld event on the list is our very own Hogswatch celebration on the 26thand 27th November, and the time is nigh for attendees to book their places for the traditional Sausage Supper. This communal feast is held on Saturday evening in the hallowed halls of Wincanton’s hostelries and is a chance to share the the company of friends and fellow Discworld fans, with a side order of festive cheer. To book your place please follow this link!

The Discworld Emporium's travelling shop will soon be steering it's wagons towards Birmingham for the 2012 Discworld Convention. Although we'll be laden with goodies, one piece of precious cargo will be missing - Bernard has done himself a mischief in the knee department, and on doctor's orders he will stay home to heal which will undoubtably leave a hole in the soundscape of the Convention, and a lot of young ears untarnished. From his chaise longue at Emporium HQ he wishes everybody a pleasant time and the organisers the very best of luck.

As well as peddling our wares in the dealer's room we'll be on hand to answer questions about the forthcoming Compleat Ankh-Morpork, and in the best convention tradition we'll be offering limited edition Discworld Stamp items reflecting the themes of the weekend, being religion and tourism. An Omnian First Day Cover, and a special convention 'Little Brown Envelope' will be available for purchase at the event, and online from Friday 31st August. The Omnian Quisition LBE contains an assortment of Discworld Stamps, along with a limited edition Omnian Quisition issue and a new offering from the Agatean Empire. There's also a one-in-three chance of obtaining sports and prizes, and a free torture in every envelope! - for more details and a preview of this item follow this LINK, and to preview the First Day Cover click HERE.

A full sheet of Quisition-sponsored stamps will be available to own for one week only at the convention and online from Friday 24th August, said sheet can be previewed in all it's severe glory HERE, while the delicate Agatean Empire Half-Rhinu will be available singly and in sheets on Friday 31st and can be viewed in advance HERE.

For quick reference, all these marvellous bits of postal paraphenalia can be found in the New Stamps section of our site.

Finally, we're pleased to announce that convention attendees will be the first to view our brand new range, as we unveil the Discworld Print Folio - coming soon!

Roll on the con!

September can be a dreaded month, with the gloom of winter drawing closer, mothers reacquainting themselves with the agonies of the morning school run, and students left to fend for themselves in the wilds of university. Thank gods then that we've had the joy of Dodger to help us through! Hopefully our latest offerings will further boost morale, and inject a bit of Discworld spirit into this autumnal humdrum.

The first set in our series of Guild Insurance Stickers have arrived! These sumptuous stickers not only look fantastic adhered to belongings, but also provide official protection from theft and meddling of your property by the Thieves and Assassins. Find them HERE.

To continue our sticky theme, characterless excercise books and educational apparatus can now become Discworld artefacts with our Unseen University Stickers, a boon to students and teachers alike! They can be glimpsed HERE.

On a final sticky note, Mr Tiddles, the official Ankh-Morpork Post Office cat, has at last been recognised with his very own Discworld Stamp on the anniversary of his installation. Sheets of the Mr Tiddles 5p issue will be available for the month of October only, and single stamps are exclusive to the Mr Tiddles LBE; a Little Brown Envelope full of assorted Discworld Stamps, with a scattering of sports and rarities throughout the edition. Every Mr Tiddles LBE will additionally contain a new version of the Llamedos Farthing, a little stamp with lots of local character that will also be available to purchase singly, or in sheets.

- All of these new Discworld Stamp Items will go on sale on Monday 1st October from the New Stamps section of our website and are available for preview HERE.

All the very best,
Discworld Emporium

The antipodean adventure that is to be the Australian Discworld Convention 2013: Nullus Anxietas IV, is nearly upon us. Ian and Reb, having seen both Neighbours AND Chopper, have been deemed the best equipped candidates to represent the Emporium down under. This means that we'll be pre-selling the traditional Australian Convention LBEs here in the UK before the event so that our depleted team can swiftly despatch your orders.
So, without further ado, we present to you The Down Under LBE. Launched Friday 1st March this celebratory LBE will contain the usual mix of Discworld Stamps, Sports and rarities. Each LBE will also contain the brand new Fourecks stamp, the brand new 50p Red Cabbage stamp (along with a chance of their respective sports!) AND a free Specimen overprint 50p Red Cabbage stamp - exclusive to this issue. A single rare Blue Triangle Sport will be also placed at random in one lucky LBE. Sheets and singles of the new Fourecks and Red Cabbage Stamps will also be available to own on Friday 1st March from the New Stamps section of our site.
We will of course be bringing plenty of LBEs to Oz for attendees to get their mitts on, along with a small selection of other goods from the Emporium's range of considered trifles.
In other news...
We've added a new category to our Discworld Stamps page! The Minisheet Collection is a new range of Discworld Stamps designed to be an inexpensive and enjoyable way to collect some of the world's most popular Cinderella Stamps. All stamps featured in this collection are exclusive to the minisheets, and won't appearing in LBEs, FDCs, journals or anywhere else!
For the price of a single LBE you’ll get 6 variants of an exclusive stamp accompanied by a presentation card. You are guaranteed to get the set, the whole set and nothing but the set - what could be simpler?
With periodical releases, this is the first time we've been able to produce a thematic suite of stamps without having to spread it over multiple LBE releases. It's a fun and easy way to get your hands on tons of new Discworld Stamps which we hope you enjoy over the coming months.
The very first issue in the Minor Guilds of Ankh-Morpork Mini Sheet Collection is the Guild of Archaeologists 2p which can be found here: http://www.discworldemporium.com/discworld-stamps/Discworld%20stamp/Minor%20Guilds/guilds%20ankh-morpork
All the best from a chilly Emporium.
