It was lovely to see you all again today, I really enjoyed it and so did Mum. Already made a start on the Belgian Choccies whilst watching Dancing on Ice  Thanks Gareth & Margaret for donating them as a prize, they're yummy :D

Sorry I couldn't make the meeting but at least Gareth went along with some raffle and booby prizes for the lowest scorers on the Discworld Quiz which were split between two different meetings. The booby prizes of course were probably the worse book about Discworld ever written and published before Terry had obtained his US patents.

I'm pleased that you managed to get the Belgium Chocolates. We will bring a box for every meeting now that we are able to attend again. They went down well before Gareth had his accident. As you saw he's still hobbling along on crutches and has a cast.

My mother telephoned me at 7.30 a.m. to say that she wanted to spend the day with me and had already arranged for my former son-in-law to collect her and her dog. Unfortunately mum, who is nearly 81, has terminal cancer and has discovered that my step-father has commited adultery which he has admitted, which started only 6 weeks ago. The cancer consultant told her on Wednesday that it's not unusual for husbands to do this or even walk out on their marriage leaving their wives to look after themselves. She is now divorcing him although he does not want this but refuses to give up the woman. Obviously she wants to spend time away from their home. It's a shame that she lives over an hour's drive away but we are going over to spend the day with her every Wednesday. She isn't upset any more but determined to make a good new life for herself. She's still a practising hypno/psycho therapist with patients referred to her by their GPs but only part time. She also trains new therapists and is one of the most highly qualified (proper qualifications) therapist in her field. I wish that I had so much go in me.

I will definitely be there next time.

A little bit late but thanks to everyone who attended. We had a great time as usual.Big thanks to Phil(Owlswick's Apprentice) for the quiz, very well presented. Won by....yes, you've guessed it,Pat! with 37/48. commendable scores from everyone else except of course yours truly who abjectly scored 10 and came last again. The reading of the Unexpurgated version of 'Where's My Cow?' was well received.Heather's scarf was a stand out event in its own right so Photo please Heather? It was reallygood to see Gareth again after 2 and a half years following his accident.Keep on the road to recovery mate.

Date and venue of the next meeting will follow in due course.

The possibility of a meeting to be held at Castle Harkinstein was raised - Sunday, June 20th looks best for us. 13th is doable at a pinch. How would that suit people?

The bad news is I'll be doing the cooking...
My next project is a book in which I explore the influence of the music of Beyonce on the writings of J R R Tolkien. It's called "It you write it, you have to put a ring in it"

... not that it really matters, given our recent attendance record  but Sunday June 20th would be very good indeed.

If it helps anyone decide, any other Sunday, for a couple of months either side, would not work for us.

We're fine with either date. Will bring various marinades, rellishes and dressings if required.

True ... but Mrs Pat is also a Doctor ... and (unless I am mistaken)I hope never to require her specialist services ... ... mind you, at my age, it's increasingly unlikely!
