It’s kind of a clunky page but I managed to figure it out. Voted! :D

So, as one of the people who nominated a finalist, I'm eligible to go to the Award dinner ... and take up to three others ... for $500/head!
Or anyone can go to their kickstarter page and buy one (only) dinner invite for $1000 - although that also includes a 'free' t-shirt
Can anyone think of a single good reason, other than potential future bragging rights ("Well, when I was last at a Nobel Prize Award ceremony ..." or "That's not how they did it at the Nobel Prize Awards dinner"), to cough up that sort of dosh?

Julia actually wants to go!

Curiosity, but it's a very personal decision what value one places on satisfying curiosity. If you go, I wonder who you would be seated with. Could be someone fascinating, or an absolute bore....

You could always start a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to pay for the Kickstarter pledge to go (or your direct one)?

I've known someone do something similar before (a kickstarter campaign to purchase a kickstarter pledge to write one of the official novellas to go with a game that was being launched/financed there) and it worked (and the novel got published).
Grumpy old mod.

Why would anyone kickstart a massively pricey dinner for me ?

Strongly intimated that the first X to reply would be seated with their nominee

Or in my case, one of their nominees

Show off!
Where is this dinner taking place and are you also able to insist on your guests sitting at the same table as your nominee (Mr Gaiman for preference)? If so, I'm with Julia and would want to go :D

It does occur to me that one could go armed with an armful of books by the attending authors and get them signed after they've had a few drinks and are feeling rather convivial, but before they find out they haven't won and get p*ssed off . . .

Can't 'insist' on anything :)

Not really the done thing, I would suggest

I wouldn't ONLY fly to Stockholm for that, but it's an amazing city so if I could loop in a week seeing the sights, I might...

It also appears to be a one off situation, if I have read the website correctly?
