NORTHERN INSTITUTE-BIG 50 RE-IMAGINED

Postby hansolobiker » Wed May 08, 2019 09:33 am

Owing to the lack of response to the prospect of a meeting in Skipton, we have decided that the upcoming 50th Northern Institute meeting will in fact be this year's Castle Harkin Garden Party. Negotiations are ongoing with lady Harkin for a possible date and this will be communicated when available. watch this space.

We would prefer August 4th or (preferably) August 11th. How does that suit people?

In the absence of any great opinion one way or the other, I hereby decree Sunday, August 4th to be the Day of Burned Meats. Fires shall be lit at noon; first food delivered around 1pm. First edible food by arrangement with Deliveroo.

As is custom, please signify attendance and dietary restriction so I may slaughter the correct number of oxen/pulses.
My next project is a book in which I explore the influence of the music of Beyonce on the writings of J R R Tolkien. It's called "It you write it, you have to put a ring in it"

i have for complex reasons and a confluence of bank holidays, handy airbnbs and a reasonably priced flight and joined up transit, arranged to come.
[regarding Alan Rickman] He had Tim Curry's ability to save the day by putting literally all the scenery in his mouth and gnawing on it like a deranged woodchuck.

I’m gutted, but I’m not going to be able to make it. I’m exhausted and subsequently my pain levels are ridiculous at the moment, so I don’t feel up to the drive and then managing work the following day.
If however I win the lottery, I will turn up in a taxi, followed by a second taxi to bring the champagne! Got to be optimistic.
Hope you all have a fantastic time and I promise to see you soon x

Many thanks to Pat and Jan Harkin for hosting their traditional Garden Party at Castle Harkin. A large turnout enjoyed fine weather(one small shower) good conversation, excellent food and beverages and a stupendous 50th Anniversary Quiz. The tour of Pat's Discworld Experience was well attended and the cats were a particular favourite. This has become a multinational must visit for those in the know. Again many thanks to our hosts for all their hard work. It is greatly appreciated. :thumbl: :thumbr:
