Philatelist or Discworld fan?

Postby Rammie » Sun Feb 13, 2005 01:40 pm

I understand that the Discworld stamps have appeal outside of the Discworld community, so I was wondering which anorak you wear? Discworld or Philately? :D

I'm a Discworld fan myself, and am worried that I'm enjoying collecting these stamps far too much :D

Until these Discworld stamps came out, I've never been interested in stamps or stamp collecting and confess to finding the whole area very anoraky, and singularly unappealling. Nor do I collect any other Discworld merchandise.

But something about the stamps attracted me - they're very well made, and are like 'props from the books' as it were - it's like having a small piece of the real Discworld, and all the details are so spot-on. Hats off to everyone involved in the project.

I still have no interest in philately in general, but can appreciate the attraction a bit more - I'm sadly addicted to Discworld stamps at the moment.

Why isn't there an option for 'both'? Surely there are people out there who are both philatelists *and* Discworld fans.

I agree with the ealier post about being able to be both.

I've been collecting stamps (on and off) for almost twice as long as Discworld has been around and you ask me to choose? :?

Still not sure how I feel after walking into Bernard's one jolly Saturday afternoon and on leaving finding myself his sub editor, tame philatelist and now posting here

Look forward to corresponding with you all (though I do know one or two of you!) and meeting you at various events in the future

I would have said both, especially as there is a cinderella which is a recognised stamp term
